Whats The T Thrusday: The Controverisal Stacey Dash

So this week is a bit of a serious topic but I have been thinking a lot about it since seeing all the talk on social media and really wanted to give my personal opinion and also get your opinion as well. So Oscars are coming shortly and celebrities Jada Pinkett'Smith & Spike Lee are planning on boycotting the event because of the lack of diversity in nominees. So Stacey Dash was on Fox & Friends and was asked how she felt about the boycott. Basically she thought the boycott was Ludicrous. She stated "we need to make up our minds, either we want segregation or integration." If integration is what we want she feels that there should be No B.E.T Network, B.E.T awards, Image awards (because only black people win) or No Black History Month, she stated "we're American's period. She also made a statement that president Obama is being funded by "liberal elite in Hollywood" so she finds it interesting that there are no African American nominees or roles for African Americans in films. She also says that she hopes that the nominees are picked by the best movies and not because of race and that there maybe should be diversity in the voting committee...So here is what rubs me the wrong way about Dee from Clueless and That's So Raven they both have been bringing up the fact that they don't want to be labeled and that they want to be "just Americans"  not "African Americans." My problem with this is that they both come off like they are negating the fact that they are black, like they are not proud of who they are and the history they come from. When this came up a lot of people where saying that Morgan Freedman also made similar comments but it went over better with me because he acknowledges that he is African American.. He did say something a long the lines that he doesn't think there should be a black history month but he also said why are we confided to just a month, black history is American history and that we are all Americans. I understand not wanting to be labeled because we all want to equal and treated as equals but I would never, ever negate being black. I'm proud of who I am and where I came from...To me if they said "I'm proud of being black and where I came from but I don't want to be labeled" I would be on their side on this, but they come off like they like they a dismissing part of their black heritage all together . Another thing Stacey said was she doesn't think there should be a B.E.T network or awards or Image awards because only African Americans are awarded and if this (which it is) was the other the other way around we would be " up in arms" (which we are). This award show and network was created because there wasn't enough representation of African-Americans on television so someone was like "you know what I'm going to make something for us." Do I think there should be more representations of all cultures on every network ABSOLUTLEY...It is getting there but its not all the way yet. Another thing I didn't like was when the anchor said this "should there not be a Black History Month, because there is no White History Month." and Stacey Said Yes?!! this left me soo confused and this was so dumb to me, I'm sorry....no offense to white Americans but if we all are being real with ourselves, do we really need a white history month? Growing up all I learned about in history class was about white Americans. There is a black history month because of this, I had to take a special class in order to learn Black History...Should we learn about history from all cultures White, Black, Spanish Asian in our schools today ABSOLUTLEY. Basically I agree that we need to be integrated a lot more and that we should all just be considered Americans and not divided by race but I also feel that no one should deny their culture or the history of their culture. I hope also the nominees where picked based on the quality of the films and not because of race. I have watched a lot of award shows and none seemed to be unfair and my opinion. also if I am being honest I cant wait for everything to stop being about race, but I do understand that sometimes when you think something is unfair you have to speak up in order for it to change.. hopefully things will continue to do so... So this was a long one, please join in on the conversation I would love to hear you opinion, comment below!! THANK YOU FOR READING!

Whack Wednesday: Moisture Less Cheeks!!

Happy Wednesday !!! How is your week going so far...mine is going ehhhhh...I am not feeling this weather. Speaking of which todays post is about how much I hate the winter...Well not really even though I do despise the winter what is Whack This Wednesday is dry skin that comes with the cold weather. It like you can be all good and moist before you leave the house and has soon as you step out the door in that air  hits your face is dry like the desert. My issue is my cheeks, not " those cheeks"(get your mind out of the gutter) they get so dry in the winter.. So I have been looking up different tips on how to keep my face moisturized during the winter months and wanted to share them with you lovely people. So Lets Get Into This:

1st Tip-Now I don't know if every culture does this but we black people just pull out some good ol' Vaseline and just rub all that on our faces, it keeps you moist and warm but its kind of sticky lol

2nd Tip: During the winter months it is better to use "ointments" oil-based lotions instead of the water based lotions. The oil based creates a protective layer for the skin and retains more moisture. (I did not know this one, so I learned something new) ps. not all oils are good for the skin..look for non-clogging oils like avocado, mineral, almond oil. Here are just a few options from Drugstore.com ...
 $1.13
 $8.49

$8.49

3rd Tip: Use lukewarm water when washing your face it strips less of your natural oils.

4th Tip: Use a Humidifier, some heating systems dry out the air, a humidifier keeps the air nice and moist :)

5th Tip: Use Hydrating face mask! ( This is something I am really interested in) There are lots of store brand moisturizing face mask but if you a bit cheap like me :) D.I.Y is always a great option....Nature moisturizers to include in your home made mask are honey, yogurt, avocado, olive and jojoba, almond oils, bananas and aloe! Mix which ever combo you like the best and leave on for 10-30 mins. :)

Last But Not Least: Water, Water, Water always a good way to keep the face Moisturize!!

Ok so I hope these few tips will help :) I got most of my tips from web M.D.com. and dr.franklipman.com ( check those sites out they have waaaayyy more tips for the winter) Thank You So Much For Reading. Please Like, Share and Comment...Also Don't Forget To Check Out My You Tube: A.J Marie..Bi-Weekly Post Wednesday and Friday :)

Truth Tuesday: New Year, Same Promblems, New Attitude!!??

Hey everyone, hope all of you are having a good day so far. So it is almost 3 weeks into the new year and even though I'm determined to make this year different then the last, I am struggling with not continuing old habits. The main habit I have is letting things that make me sad effect my productivity. That was my biggest regret last year, I let my emotions effect a lot of things, which made me depressed because I felt like there was so much more I could have done. I was mad at myself and to be honest with you the same things that were worrying me, or making sad last year are the same this year...realistically it hasn't been that long. But I am happy to say that me having this new attitude, making this year a positive one instead of a negative one is really working for me....When I catch my self stressing or getting sad I have been giving myself a pep talk...It sounds dumb but it gets me out of my funk... For example I started to get into worried mode because this year I turn dirty 30 and I felt myself worrying about s%$#! that I felt needed to happen now, like one thing is moving. I want to have my own place, and I had to stop myself  from being sad and say "It takes time to save for an apartment and you are saving, and you will have everything you want, just keep working hard, be positive and think if you keep going how different your future will be." Saying this to myself when I started to get sad actually is helping me, I have been forcing myself to snap outta of whatever is bringing me down at the moment and making sure I still do what I planned to do!! So even though I'm still a work in progress, I'm proud of myself for getting myself for not crawling into that little ball that I normally do when I feel down. I refuse to have another unproductive year because of emotional bull#@! I encourage all of you to not let anything get in the way of accomplishing the things you set out for yourself this year. Think how great the outcome will be if you keep working hard at your goals.. we all have personal challenges in life don't let them be your down fall...I'm right there will you.. lets work hard together...Thank you so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed, stay positive :)
